Little know facts
The track “Space Walk” features a recording of astronaut Ed White’s 1965 spacewalk during the Gemini 4 mission. The duo chose this sample after being moved by an album called Flight to the Moon.
In the song “Ramblin’ Man,” the locations listed spell out the hidden message “Bagpuss Sees All Things” using the first letter of each place.
The opening track “Elements” includes a voiceover by English actor John Standing, listing the basic elements that make up the world, such as earth, metal, water, wood, fire, and sky.
Appetite for Destruction
by Guns n’ Roses
Little know facts
The iconic song “Sweet Child o’ Mine” started as a warm-up riff by Slash, which he called a “circus melody.” Axl Rose overheard it and wrote lyrics inspired by his then-girlfriend, Erin Everly.
The mid-song break in “Rocket Queen” features recorded audio of a passionate encounter between Axl Rose and Adriana Smith, a friend of the band, capturing the raw energy the band aimed for.
The album’s original cover art, depicting a robot attacker and an avenger, was deemed too graphic by retailers. It was replaced by the now-famous skulls-on-a-cross design.
