Alanis Morissette wrote the song “Hand in My Pocket” in just 30 minutes during a session with producer Glen Ballard. Their creative chemistry was instant, leading to the rapid creation of this iconic track.
The song “You Oughta Know” features Flea and Dave Navarro from the Red Hot Chili Peppers on bass and guitar, respectively. Their spontaneous involvement added a gritty edge to the song, making it a standout breakup anthem.
To preserve authenticity, Morissette insisted on recording her vocals in just one or two takes. This method captured her raw emotions and contributed to the album’s unique intensity and vulnerability.
