Sad Hunk and Come On In
Week #9 – March 13
Sad Hunk
by Bahamas
Little know facts
The album title “Sad Hunk” was inspired by a nickname given to Afie Jurvanen (Bahamas) by his wife, poking fun at an over-dramatic photoshoot.
The album is a masterclass in minimalism, focusing on the space between notes as much as the sounds themselves.
“Sad Hunk” won the Juno Award for Adult Alternative Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2021.
Come On In
by R.L. Burnside
Little know facts
This album is a unique blend of Delta blues and electronic music, incorporating sampling and looping techniques.
Burnside was initially skeptical about the idea of a remix album but ended up loving the finished product.
“Come On In” became the best-selling album distributed by Epitaph Records in early 1999.
