The song “1234” gained massive popularity after being featured in an Apple iPod Nano commercial in 2007. This exposure helped the song reach number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The track “Sealion” is an adaptation of Nina Simone’s song “See Line Woman” from her 1964 album “Broadway-Blues-Ballads”. Feist reworked the song, giving it a new life.
The album won Feist two Juno Awards in 2008 for “Best Pop Album” and “Best Album of the Year”. It was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album.
Give Up
by The Postal Service
Little know facts
The album was created through a long-distance collaboration between Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie) and Jimmy Tamborello (Dntel). They sent demos back and forth via mail, adding elements until the songs were complete.
The album’s title led to a trademark dispute with the United States Postal Service, which they had to resolve.
Jenny Lewis from Rilo Kiley contributed vocals to the track “We Will Become Silhouettes,” adding a unique touch to the album.
